Wider World

We believe that the Christian message of love and reconciliation provides meaning and challenge to us all, and that as Christians, we are called to think beyond our immediate neighbourhood.

Fairtrade: Central is a Fairtrade Church. We use Fairtrade products in our Coffee shop and in all activities that meet on Church premises. We also have a Stall once a month with a range of Traidcraft goods. We actively support Chesterfield being a Fairtrade Borough. For more information contact Chris Sharratt

Church in the World: We are actively involved in supporting Christian Aid, the Methodist Relief and Development Fund (MRDF) and Methodist Women in Britain (MWIB), both financially and by holding events and engaging with projects, such as the “Stop the Traffik” campaign against Human Trafficking. For more information contact Paul Timperley

ECO Group: Eco-congregation is an ecumenical environmental project for churches in Britain and Ireland. It encourages churches to consider green issues in the context of their Christian life and mission and to take positive action. A small group of enthusiasts, the eco-group, tries to promote these issues at Central: We have items in the monthly newsletter; “green” services are held from time to time; there is a recycling scheme at Central; we try to mark Environment Sunday with a non-car or share-car day and cycle racks have been installed.
