Whittington Moor Methodist Church first opened its doors on Saturday 14th November 1981. It was the coming together of St Johns Road Methodist Church and Sheffield Road Methodist Church both of which were knocked down in order to make way for the regeneration of the Whittington Moor Area. We have since been joined by our friends from New Whittington Methodist Church and Ulverston Road Methodist Church.

As the people of Whittington Moor Methodist Church we believe that we have a three-fold focus to our work and witness:

  • First and foremost we are called to love God in response to his love for us.  The foundation of all that we do is God’s love for us and our response to that love.
  • As a consequence of God’s love for us we are called to love each other as a Christian community, sharing our lives with one another, demonstrating love as we bear with one another, work together, accepting our differences but seeking to move forward.
  • And we are called to love our neighbour by working with and in the community, serving the needs of others, thus fulfilling the command of Jesus.
